Saudi customs men guarding the 25-km causeway linking the largest Arab economy to the tiny island nation of Bahrain were surprised to see a truck heading into the Gulf Kingdom had two engine petrol compartments.

A normal person could have thought it is new vehicle technology but the suspicious customs men appeared to be the least interested in technology.

When they scanned and checked the petrol compartment, they found the truck was still running by petrol. Next to petrol in the other compartment, they discovered nearly 148 litres of alcohol.

“The smugglers thought this innovative way will elude our customs men,” said Ghannam Al Ghannam, director of the customs office at the busy causeway.
