56-year-old father of 3 molests 3 school kids

Borella police arrested on Monday a 56-year-old school van driver for sexually molesting three, 6-year-old, school children in the van, ‘Lankadeepa’ reported.

The suspect had been arrested upon a complaint lodged about the incident by the parents of the children.

Police officials said that the suspect had taken the victim children first into the van and had sexually molested them one by one in the van having parked near the college until the other children’s schools were over.  

The suspect, who had been arrested, is a father of three from the Ganemulla area.

A police team led by Borella Police Crimes Division OIC IP Nihal Francis and the Children’s and Women’s Bureau OIC SI Thejani are conducting further investigations.

9-month-old toddler dies in a water basin

A 9-month-old baby boy drowned in a water basin which was filled with water in the Baddegama police area in Sri Lanka, ‘Lankadeepa’ reported.

The toddler had been identified as Chaneth Chathuranga from the Fedrusi Colony in Ampegama, the youngest child of KH Upul Kumara and PA Chandrika, parents of two sons aged 7 and 2.

It has been revealed that the mother after keeping a basin full of water inside the house had taken the elder son to the hospital for treatment.

During the time, the toddler had fallen into the basin and when the mother returned after about 15 minutes, she had found the baby in the water basin and rushed him to the hospital with the help of the neighbours but the doctors pronounced the baby dead.

The body of the toddler had been kept in the Baddegama hospital for post mortem while Baddegama police conducting further investigations.
