INDIA: A seven-year-old girl has lost her innocence and become silent. She refuses to interact with anyone but her mother ever since her trust was broken by her own maternal grandfather who sexually abused her for more than six months in his own home in Bangalore.

The child's mother noticed that her playful girl was getting quieter by the day and did not want to stay at her beloved grandpa's home any more, reports The Times of India.

It took her a long time to get her daughter into her confidence. One day, the little igirl broke down and told her mother that her grandfather was touching her in inappropriately (pointing to the lower part of the body).

The mother was enraged to hear this and she could not believe her ears when she learnt that her mother knew that her father was abusing her child and chose to keep quiet about it.

Her other siblings refused to side with her fearing social stigma.

The single mother walked to the nearest police station but it took her eight hours of firm stand just to file a police complaint against her father.

The sexual abusers play on the victim's fear of social stigma to carry on with their disgusting actions.

In this case, the police officials too tried their best to dissuade the mother of the child to not wash dirty linen in public and solve the issue at home without making it public.
