Bizarre: Spear removed from teen's head

Published

Doctors in Miami have successfully removed a spear accidentally shot through a teenager's skull during a spearfishing trip.

Yasser Lopez, 16, was in a serious condition overnight at Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Centre.

The spear gun accidentally fired as it was being loaded.

Lopez was admitted to hospital on June 7 with nearly one metre of the spear protruding from his forehead.

Doctors said the spear entered his head five centimetres above his right eye and came out the back of his skull.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue tools were used to cut the spear so Lopez could be X-rayed.

The rest of the spear was removed in a three-hour surgery.

Doctors said yesterday the spear missed the main blood vessels in the brain.

They said Lopez doesn't remember the accident.(AP)

Farmer herds 5,000 ducks through town

A modern-day Pied Piper disguised as a Chinese farmer actually herded about 5,000 ducks through the streets of Taizhou city in east China's Zhejiang province.

The migration or mass movement of the ducks caused massive chaos as traffic virtually ground to a halt as the birds marched about 1km across the city to reach the pond, reports Orange.co.uk.

The famer proudly told the website that he indulges in this massive migration project quite frequently and he has never even lost one of his beloved ducks in this process.
