13-year-old girl has managed to dig herself out of a grave after she was allegedly raped and buried alive by two men in Pakistan.

The teenager was attacked in Toba Tek Singh, an area of Punjab, while walking.

She was reportedly buried alive by the two attackers who thought she had died during the assault.

When she regained consciousness, the young girl managed to dig her way out of the muddy grave and call out for help, police say.

She attracted the attention of a passer-by and managed to survive the horrific ordeal after being treated in hospital.

Despite initially refusing to investigate the attack, following desperate pleas from the victim's father, police have now arrested two men over the rape.

They were ordered to arrest the alleged attackers by the Lahore High Court Chief Justice's Complaint Cell.

According to children's charity Sahil, the number of children raped in Pakistan over the past decade has increased by nearly 400 percent.

Last month, rights campaigners staged protest rallies across Pakistan against the rape of a five-year-old girl in the eastern city of Lahore.

Relative slays pregnant woman

An estranged sister-in-law is accused of wielding a dual-blade martial arts knife in the bloody stabbing death of a pregnant woman that also killed the woman’s fetus during an argument about being kicked out of a Las Vegas apartment.

The dead woman’s 5-year-old son went to a neighbour and reported that his mom was bleeding before police were called about 6 pm Wednesday, according to a police report made public following the arrest of Elinor Malansing Indico.

Officers reported finding Ashley Indico, 26, dead in a pool of blood in a bedroom. She was nine months pregnant, with a due date later this month, police said.

She died of head and neck wounds, according to the Clark County coroner, and also had severe arm wounds, a broken arm and a cut on her left ankle. The unborn child also died.

Elinor Indico had her 3-year-old niece with her in the apartment, but surrendered without incident to police who reported finding a double-bladed knife with 4-inch blades and a multi-colored hilt next to Ashley Indico’s body.

Police said Elinor Indico told them she owned the knife.

Homicide Sgt. Ray Steiber said Friday that Elinor Indico was the only suspect in the slaying case. She faces charges of murder with a deadly weapon and voluntary manslaughter.

Elinor Indico was being treated at University Medical Center in Las Vegas in police custody for abdominal stab wounds that she told officers she received while fighting with her sister-in-law for the knife. Police said her injuries weren’t believed to be life-threatening.

A court date was pending, and it wasn’t immediately clear if Elinor Indico had a lawyer.

She told police she stabbed her sister-in-law in self-defence.

Police said the woman’s brother, Aristeo Indico, told investigators that he and his sister had martial arts training when they were younger.

Aristeo Indico was at work at the time of the attack, police said. He told investigators he helped his sister move to Las Vegas in September from Granada Hills, Calif., but she quickly lost a job that he arranged for her and squabbled with him and Ashley Indico about rules at their home, according to the police arrest report.

Elinor Indico had been asked to move out this week, the report said.
