Doc suspended for texting during surgery

A US-based doctor has been suspended for putting the lives of his patients in danger by engaging in sending text messages through mobile phone while conducting a surgery.

According to The HIffington Post, the surgeon has also been charged for prescribing improper medication to his patients.

The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) in its statement charged the doctor for “patients at unreasonable risk of harm” and having “frequently exchanged personal and often sexually explicit text messages while on duty from at least April through August 2013.”

Dr Arthur Zilberstein's medical license as well as his privileges at his workplace, the Swedish Medical Center, have been suspended.
