Teen gang-raped twice, burnt by rapist

West Bengal: The tragic woes of a family in Kolkata continues even after their teenage daughter passed away in the most brutal manner.

The 16-year-old was gang-raped twice late last year and finally charred to death at her home, reported DNA.

The teenager was first gang-raped on October 25 and she was found lying in a field near her house. She was then forcibly taken away by the same gang and gang-raped again when she was returning home with her parents after lodging a complaint with the local police station.

The severely injured girl was found lying unconscious on the railway tracks. She was admitted to hospital and her family shifted their residence fearing more assault.

However, at their new place one of the gang members allegedly threatened them to withdraw the complaint.

That same day, she died on burn injuries. Before she slipped away, she said that her attackers had set her on fire.

Meanwhile, doctors who treated her claim she was pregnant, too.

Now, two months later, the family allege that they are threatened by the state police to leave the state.

The victim’s father will meet the President to present his case, even as the entire state has erupted in protests.
