'Honour killing' family sentenced to death in Pakistan

A 25-year-old pregnant woman, Farzana Iqbal, who was savagely beaten to death in the name of honour killing can finally rest in peace.

Her father, brother, cousin, and another relative have been sentenced to death for killing her in front of her husband in May, reports Daily Mail. She was killed in broad dayling outside the court in the Pakistani city of Lahore. She had arrived at the court to defend her husband, who had been slapped with kidnapping charges by the woman's family. 

Farzana's male family members attacked her and even threw heavy bricks at her, thus killing her on the spot.

The woman was killed for getting married without their permission. However, her husband later admitted that he had murdered his first wife in order to get married to Farzana. The first wife's family had allegedly even forgiven him for the act, reports the UK daily.

The family members are expected to file an appeal in a higher court in Pakistan.
