Indian politician 'sexually harasses' daughter

A 17-year-old girl has filed a formal complaint against her father in Mumbai for making vulgar advances on her for the last one-and-a-half years.

The father is a small-time politician and is the president of the minority cell of a national party. The man has been placed in judicial custody after the police took action on the basis of the daughter's complaint, reports Mid Day.

The daughter told the police officials that her father would show her obscene photographs which were stored in his camera. He would also allegedly get too close to her while no one else was at home.

The girl was accompanied by her friends when she approached the police to file her complaint, the daily said.

In a surprise move, the teenager's mother came out strongly in support of her husband. In order to prove that the father is innocent, she even tried to slur her daughter's name. She told the mediapersons outside the court that she and her husband had caught the daughter indulging in obscene chat with her boyfriend who belonged to a different religion.

The mother claims that her daughter was influenced by her boyfriend and came up with the sexual allegations since the parents were against her ralationship with the boy.
