Man who married 23 times… finally out of luck
Colombo - A man, who allegedly married 23 women, was caught and handed over to the Baddegama Police in Galle District of the Southern Province.
The man promised jobs to the women he wooed – in Sri Lanka and abroad - ‘Lanka Cyber News’ reported.
He was collecting money from some of the women he had conned, when he was caught, tied to a tree and handed over to the police by people in the area.
A number of fake national identity cards and four bogus marriage certificates were found in his possession.
All the women he married were above the age of 35 and he got in touch with them through matrimonial ads in the newspapers.
After marriage, he often had properties owned by the women moved to his name.
The Baddegama police are conducting further investigations.
Two kids run over by a private bus
A private bus plying from Kegalle to Rambukkana in the Sabaragamuwa Province, Sri Lanka, knocked down two children from the same family.
The children were returning with their mother from a Buddhist religious ceremony at Daluggala Temple, ‘Dinamina’ newspaper reported.
Their mother, who was severely injured in the accident was first admitted to the Rambukkana hospital and later was transferred to Kegalle Hospital.
The victims have been identified as Sasanka Mihiranga, 11 and Malsha Nethumini, 2.
Sasanka was a Grade 6 student of the Thiragama Central College in Kohilegedara.
The Rambukkana police have arrested the private bus driver identified as, Lal Vijithakumara.
