Minor wife reports husband for brutality, torture

SRI LANKA: A fisherman was arrested by Dickwella police for torturing a 15-year-old girl by constantly beating her and forcing her to drink alcohol and even urine, ‘Lankadeepa’ reported.

The suspect, who had come home drunk, forced her to deink a foul mixture of alcohol and urine after beating her with an iron rod.

The girl fled and filed a complaint at Dickwella police station.

Police said that the victim had been subjected to similar torture earlier too and they had found the bottle of remaining urine, the iron rod and a pole from the suspect’s home.

The suspect had lived with the victim as a couple over the past three-months, police investigations revealed.

The 21-year-old suspect was due to be produced before the Matara magistrate court and the victim had been hospitalized for a medical examination.

Investigations continue.
