Monk accused of child abuse

Colombo - A Buddhist monk has been arrested by Dambulla the police for attempting to sexually abuse a 10-year-old girl who went to the temple carrying meals to her grandmother, ‘Mawbima’ reported.

The suspect monk was lodging in a temple at Dambulla, aged 39, and he was arrested on a complaint lodged by the victim’s parents.

In their complaint, they stated that the suspect monk took their daughter to his abode and had kissed the child while showing her a laptop

Dambulla Police are investigating.
