Mop left inside Indian woman

Published

Maharashtra: In a bizarre case of negligence, a hospital in Mumbai has endangered the life of a young woman who delivered her first baby there.

A large mop cloth was removed from the uterus of the 29-year-old woman more than two months after she had a baby at the hospital, reported ToI.

The doctor who performed the C-section on her in October had accidentally left the roll inside her seriously affecting her health.

The victim’s husband was quoted as saying that his wife complained of stomach pain a week after the delivery. When he took her to the same hospital, they prescribed her pain killers. However, when the pain increased, the couple revisited the hospital after another 12 days.

A CT scan was conducted, which showed a mass inside. A clean-up surgery was immediately done, but she has not recovered completely, claimed the husband. Another surgery is required because the cloth tore her insides and caused severe infection, as well.

The couple plans to take legal action against the hospital.
