Student 'abused'; school principal flees

Colombo: A school principal in Sri Lanka is absconding following reports that he attempted to sexually abuse a student in his office.

According to a report in ‘Sunday Mawbima’, the girl’s mother filed a complaint with National Child Protection Authority (NCPA), alleging that the principal summoned her daughter on several occasions to his office room and attempted to misbehave with her.

The girl has been produced before the Judicial Medical Officer for a medical examination, while the police have been ordered to conduct an investigation by the NCPA.

Meanwhile, the principal has fled the area.
