Abraaj hires Anabtawi to handle coverage and fundraising

Anabtawi will be executive director at Abraaj Capital

 
 

Leading private equity firm Abraaj Capital has appointed Sari Maher Anabtawi as an executive director.

 

Anabtawi, who will be responsible for coverage and fundraising, has held senior positions at global blue-chip firms such as Drexel Burnham Lambert, Smith Barney and Morgan Stanley.

 

He has 10 years experience in private equity.

 

“The appointment of Anabtawi comes at a period of significant, sustained growth at Abraaj Capital,” said Arif Naqvi, Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Abraaj Capital.

 

“I am confident that Sari will make an important contribution to the ongoing success of Abraaj,” he said.

 

Anabtawi began his career in the United States, where he served at IBM and Anderson Consulting. Prior to joining Abraaj, he served as head of regional origination and director of corporate and investment banking, Mena, at Standard Bank in Dubai.

 

Anabtawi holds a BSc in mechanical engineering from Manhattan College in New York and an MBA from Georgetown University in Washington, DC.
