ADCB and DIB clinch awards

Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) has been named the Best Bank at the Banker Middle East Industry Awards 2008, while Dubai Islamic Bank won the Best Islamic Bank award.

ADCB also won the award for the Best Bank in Advertising and Marketing campaigns, while the National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) secured the largest number of awards presented in Dubai on Tuesday.

NBK received accolades in the Best Commercial Bank, the Best Bank in Customer Service and Contact Centre and the Best Use of Technology categories. Deutsche Bank won the Best Foreign Bank in the Region award and Doha Bank won the Best Globalisation Effort of a Middle Eastern Bank and the Best Green Bank awards.

Rick Pudner, CEO of Emirates NBD, the largest banking group in the Middle East in terms of assets, received the Banker of the Year award. Ahmed Humaid Al Tayer, Chairman of the group said that this recognition came as Pudner played a key role in spearheading the merger of the Emirates Bank and the National Bank of Dubai.
