NTPC to borrow $4.5bn to increase capacity addition

NTPC, India's biggest power producer, plans to borrow about Rs200 billion (Dh16.5bn) in the year that started April 1 as it quadruples generation capacity to help reduce blackouts in the nation. "We have tied up almost 70 per cent of our debt needed for this year, primarily with domestic banks and financial institutions," Chairman RS Sharma said.
