Saudi Arabia is planning to spend $20 billion (Dh73.4bn)  on the health and medical sector by 2016, according to statistics from the Ministry of Health.

The investment is being driven by the demand for better medical products and services and the rapid rise in the population.

Tripp Lite, the world’s leading manufacturer of power protection and connectivity equipment, is aiming to play a huge role in the expansion of the sector. The US company has signed an agreement with Saudi Arabia’s Delta Automotive, a leading manufacturer of ambulances and specialty vehicles.

As part of the agreement Tripp Lite has installed its top-of-the-line DC to AC inverters in Delta Automotive’s ambulances to ensure uninterrupted power supply.

“As the Saudi Government undertakes drastic reforms in the healthcare system, the market catering to medical equipment can be expected to witness exponential growth, thus presenting tremendous opportunities for global and regional suppliers,” said Vipin Sharma, Tripp Lite’s Vice-President for Sales in Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

“Our desire to leverage this market has paved the way for our agreement with Delta Automotive, which is a testament to our proactive approach in finding suitable markets for our power protection products, especially in core sectors such as the healthcare, IT, aviation and construction industries.”

Mazen Salloum, Delta’s  manager, said: “As a leading manufacturer of ambulances and specialty vehicles in the Kingdom we have manufactured more than 1,500 emergency vehicles so far, which  are roaming the Gulf and providing immediate care for urgent medical situations.

“In addition to utilising a variety of top-quality chassis including GMC, Ford and Mercedes-Benz we have also recognised the advantages of incorporating leading-edge inverters in our ambulances.

“Our partnership with Tripp Lite will not only enhance our reputation as a manufacturer but, more importantly, will also benefit the public who will  use our well-equipped ambulances.”

Modern technological advances have resulted in the development of state-of-the-art and power-dependent healthcare equipment.

Tripp Lite’s partnership with Delta is intended to establish a strong reputation for its DC to AC inverters as the ideal supplement for vital medical apparatus.

The power protection products – supplied through Al Jassim Electronics Establishments, Tripp Lite’s distributor in Saudi Arabia – are essential for ensuring an uninterrupted power supply in vehicles, especially during medical emergencies.

The inverters will ensure power continuity by adjusting fluctuation and reducing incidences of power interruption. With the capacity to supply power at 110 and 220 volts at the same time, the inverters enable the charging of batteries and the running of interior equipment from exterior power sources.

Ambulances already equipped with the robust DC to AC inverters – including first responders, medium equipped and highly equipped critical cars and 4x4 units – have been tested and are being used to respond to emergency calls.

Tripp Lite’s range of power protection systems for the health sector include its medical grade mobile power retrofit kit. The company also supplies keyboard, video, mouse switches, uninterruptible power supply systems, surge suppressors, notebook accessories, line conditioners, cabling products and network management accessories.
