Al Futtaim Retail, which holds the Marks & Spencer franchise, has renewed its contract with GAC Logistics to run the brand’s warehousing and distribution operations across five GCC countries.
GAC will continue to manage Marks & Spencer’s distribution centre in Dubai and deliveries to the retailer’s nine stores in the region.
Dubai-based GAC manages specific orders from each store which are processed in line with daily sales and prepares and delivers the stock by the following day. In addition it supports Marks & Spencer with consultancy on store loading bay design and stockrooms, sale pricing, shop fitting assembly and merchandising. The two companies have been in partnership since 1996.
“GAC is investing more resources which demonstrates its commitment to key clients like Marks & Spencer,” said Dubai Managing Director Dan Hjalmarsson. “We are investing Dh13.2 million in a specialised hanging garment system to support the future growth requirements with an infrastructure that meets their strict quality requirements, dedicated to the Marks & Spencer business.”
Sebastian Thomas, Supply Chain Manager of Al Futtaim Retail, said the new long-term contract would make GAC one of the company’s main logistics partners. “It is an affirmation of GAC’s relentlessly high service level over the years,” he added. “GAC’s contribution as a key supply chain partner was recently acknowledged when we presented it with a service excellence award. GAC has played a predominant role in designing, developing and managing the supply chain for a number of our retail brands. The Marks & Spencer supply chain model is considered to be one of the most efficient logistics solutions in the region.
“With major expansion plans in the pipeline, Al Futtaim Retail expects the partnership with GAC to continue supporting its business growth.”
