Al Sarh wins Dh55m Sports City contract

A Dh55.5 million contract for the construction of Champions Tower II at Dubai Sports City was yesterday awarded to Al Sarh Contracting.

Dubai-based developer Memon Investments emphasised the importance of the timely completion of the project as it had already been delayed due to the late handover of land.

“We launched Champions Tower II in mid-2006 but the land was handed over only in mid-2007,” said Rizwan Shaikhani, Memon’s Joint Managing Director.

“The handover was delayed because of Metro construction work. The site should have been ready within 18 months of the 2006 launch. All our dates went haywire because of delays. So we are very keen there are no further hold-ups. We were attracted by Al Sarh’s expertise, reputation and history of timely project delivery.”

The shoring, initial excavation and foundation work on the Dh110m Champions Tower II was carried out by Stromek Emirates Foundation, a subsidiary of M’sharie, the private equity arm of Dubai Investments.
