The Licensing Agency at the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) issued 167,261 driving licences in the emirate last year, the authority has said.
According to Sultan Abdullah Al Marzooki, Director of the Driving Licensing Department at the Licensing Agency, the driving licences issued were in seven categories – namely motorcycle, light vehicle, heavy vehicle, light bus, heavy bus, light mechanical plant, and heavy mechanical plant.
Light vehicles topped the list of licences issued, with 131,690. They were followed by heavy vehicles with 15,473, heavy mechanical plant with 7,125, heavy buses with 6,989, motorcycles 3,357, light mechanical plant 1,875, and light buses with 751 driving licences.
