Emirates will show a "modest" profit in the financial year ended March 31, 2009, according to a top executive. The airline recorded a profit of $1.37 billion (Dh5.03bn) last year.
"We will make a modest profit this year. It is an amazing achievement given the current economic conditions," Maurice Flanagan, Executive Vice-Chairman and Group President of Emirates, told Emirates Business.
The airline, which declares its financial results by the end of April every year, will be delaying it by a couple of weeks this year. Flanagan said: "Finances this year were far more complex, with fuel costs going volatile and all that kind of thing.
"There will be no cancellations at all for either the Airbus A380s or the Boeing 777s. Emirates will need those aircraft as we are not looking at any route or frequency cuts, other than tweaking some routes. "
