Following the recent news of faulty Chrysler vehicles being recalled due to a potential defect in the brake system, Chrysler Group Middle East has said no such vehicles are in the UAE.

"The UAE is not affected by this voluntary recall and all the vehicles [mentioned- below] sold in the Emirates are absolutely free from this problem," Chrysler Group Middle East said in a statement sent to Emirates Business. Chrysler has notified NHTSA (National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration) about the voluntary recall of 2010 model year Chrysler Sebring, Dodge Avenger, Nitro, Jeep Liberty, Grand Cherokee, Commander, and 2009-2010 Ram 1500 due to brake push rod clips.

During a quality inspection it was found that some vehicles may have been built with improperly formed brake booster push rod retaining clips or without a clip potentially resulting in push rod separation from the brake pedal assembly and a loss of braking.

The quality control systems in place caught the issue early. All affected assembly plants held vehicle inventory and inspected for and replaced the clips as necessary. The total numbers of units affected in markets outside of North America is approximately 200, said Chrysler Group Middle East.
