Bawabat Phase I work on schedule

Baniyas Investment and Development Company (BID) has announced that construction work on Phase l of Bawabat Al Sharq is progressing as per schedule with 60 per cent of work on the project now achieved.

BID is the investment arm of Baniyas Sports Club and the project is a Dh3 billion mixed-use development in Abu Dhabi's Bani Yas region Phase l of Bawabat Al Sharq, which is due to be completed and delivered in December 2010, comprises 164 apartments and 56 villas.

Wael Tawil, Chief Executive Officer of Baniyas Investment and Development Company, said: "We are moving ahead steadily with the objective of handing over the residential sector of Phase l in December 2010. "

Phase l of Bawabat Al Sharq also includes a mall, spread across two floors; nearly 70,000 sq m of gross leasable area and featuring 339 retail outlets with 2,245 parking spaces as well as 22 food outlets.

Construction on the mall has now reached the 40 per cent completion mark and , the venue is scheduled for a opening in December this year as well.

The main contractor for Phase I is Target Engineering Construction Company, a EPC contractor owned by Arabtec Holdings.
