The Supervision Committee for the Expansion of Abu Dhabi International Airport (Scadia) has invited bids for the construction of new aircraft parking spaces in the airport. The last day to receive the applications is June 18, according to the Arabic daily Al Khaleej.

The range of project works includes all necessary services and facilities, like the site's preparation, construction of aircraft parking, runways, fire station, airfield ground lighting, power supply, visual docking guidance system and refueling exits.

The Scadia has also invited contractors to bid for the construction of external and internal roads as well as necessary services and facilities between the Abu Dhabi International Airport and the intersection of highway E11. The project is expected to start in February 2010 and end in October 2011.

The scope includes the construction of surrounding external roads and internal roads leading to the highway E11, including relevant services and facilities, like bridges, tunnels, pedestrian crossings, road lighting, sewerage and so on. The project's total road works stretch over 35 kilometres. Since this project synchronises with other projects carried out by other contractors at the same site, coordination among contractors is necessary.

Bidders must have undertaken and completed five similar projects over the past five years, including two contracts worth more than Dh200 million. Contractors who wish to apply for both the projects must have worked on five similar projects over last ten years and preferences will be given to those with prior experience in the Gulf.

The contractor should have an experienced staff of engineers with at least 10 years' experience in similar projects. Except for registration papers and company's licences, all documents included in the initial qualification application should be in English.
