Conmix, a leading provider of ready mix concrete, pre mix plaster and construction chemicals in the UAE, announced the setting up of a new dry mortar plant for the production of pre mix plasters and construction chemicals.

The new facility being built in the Al Ghail industrial area, Ras Al Khaimah, is spread over an area of more than 20,000 square meters, and will have an annual production capacity of 300,000 tonnes.

This is Conmix's fourth dry mortar plant in the UAE and is being built at a cost of Dh35 million. Construction works at the site have started and the unit is scheduled to be fully operational by mid-2009.

Lothar Hellenkamp, CEO, Conmix, said despite the current economic situation, the new facility is a sound investment aimed at catering to the infrastructural development in the region.

"In spite of the present economic scenario, the new plant is not only a sound investment for expected future growth in business for the company, but also helps to serve as a supplement to the infra-structural development of the UAE and neighbouring countries."

"Conmix has been the pioneer in the field of pre mix plasters in the Middle East and have a history of being trend setters, not followers," he added.

The company's product range of pre mix plaster includes cement and cement lime plasters, gypsum lime plasters, decorative plasters, tile adhesives and grouts, acoustic and insulation plasters and surface treatment. Its dry mortar plants have a combined production capacity of more than 1,500 metric tonnes per day. Meanwhile, the ready mix concrete batching plants have a combined capacity of approximately 200,000 cubic meters monthly.

The company also manufactures a wide range in construction chemicals and offers products and solutions for waterproofing, surface treatments, concrete repair, flooring, non shrink grouts, sealants and concrete admixtures. Conmix, a joint-venture between the Bukhatir Group and German-Gulf Enterprises, exports its products to more than 20 countries.
