Dubai Municipality has set up swimming pools for training purpose in a number of Dubai sport clubs at a cost Dh47 million.

The project comes in line with the endeavours of Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance and Industry, to develop sports in Dubai.

Hussein Lootah, Director-General of the civic body, said the world-class project, which was implemented in Al Nasr, Al Wasl and Al Shabab clubs, is an integral part of the initiatives that aim at providing good living and recreation facilities.

The project includes indoor air-conditioned swimming facilities, covering an area of 9,500 metres each, designed as per Olympic standards. The swimming pools also include grandstands with a capacity of 300 spectators, as well as administrative and service offices, parking lots and other facilities.
