Empower signs contract with Allied Consultants
Emirates Central Cooling Corporation (Empower) yesterday said it has signed a contract with Allied Consultants, a development consulting company, for ensuring the supply of 53,000 refrigeration tonnes (RT) of district cooling services to Tijara Town development.
The contract was signed by Ahmad bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, and Ahmed Abdul Ghani, Chairman of Allied Consultants.
Empower, the largest district cooling service provider in the region, will be responsible for Tijara Town district cooling plant, while Allied Consultants will carry out the design and supervision of the chilled water distribution piping network.
Bin Shafar said: "Empower is highly selective about identifying the right partner for every project. We are delighted to offer this key contract to Allied Consultants, which has the wherewithal to implement major projects of this magnitude.

The Dh6 billion Tijara Town, located in Dubailand and developed by Dubai Properties. Located close to Emirates Road, Tijara Town will span 188 hectares and comprises 51 customisable freehold mixed-used units of 7,700 square metres each.
A joint venture between Tecom Investments and Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa), Empower handles projects for several developments in Dubai, including the Dubai International Financial Centre, Dubai Healthcare City, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Culture Village, Business Bay, and the City of Arabia.
District cooling provides economic benefits for large-scale users, with estimates indicating it will grow into a $30 billion (Dh36.7bn).
