Japan copper wire and cable shipments fall

Copper wire and cable shipments in Japan dropped 16 per cent in November from a year earlier, the second straight monthly decline, the Japanese Electric Wire and Cable Makersi Association said in a Bloomberg report.

Shipments fell to 63,900 metric tonnes on a preliminary basis, led by slumping demand from the car, electrical and construction industries, the group said yesterday in a faxed statement.

Association members include Furukawa Electric Co and Sumitomo Electric Industries Ltd.
