The Ministry of Economy (MoE) has announced new prices for cement bags and released a list of outlets and agents that have agreed to the fixed prices.
Undersecretary Mohammed Ahmed bin Abdul Aziz Al Shihhi said the authorised dealers who have signed undertakings have agreed to sell cement at Dh18 per bag within city limits and Dh19 in remote areas.
He also warned of legal action if the dealers breach the agreement to increase prices without the ministry's approval.
The official said the deal completes the memorandum of understanding the ministry signed in May this year with cement manufacturers in the UAE to enhance co-ordination with cement producers and highlight the responsibility to consumers by regulating prices.
