Nursery set up for Tiger Woods

The Tiger Woods Dubai, a member of Tatweer Dubai, yesterday announced its plant nursery, which aims to support the horticultural requirements of the 55 million square feet golf community development.

It now boasts more than 60 acres of grass – the equivalent of nine holes – and houses nearly 4,500 trees in addition to a wide variety of shrubs. The nursery, which has begun to cater to the requirements of Al Ruwaya Golf Course, also features a reverse osmosis plant that purifies 5,000 cubic metres per day of treated sewage effluent water to specified standards.

Abdulla Al Gurg, Project Director, The Tiger Woods Dubai, said: "The successful progress of work registered so far at The Tiger Woods Dubai has revitalised our corporate spirit, enabling us to target even higher benchmarks. We will continue to adopt the latest technologies in all facets of our project, including advanced water management techniques. We are keen to uphold the exclusivity of the destination that is set to become one of the most sought after golf developments in the world."

Sod harvesting is another process that is being implemented at The Tiger Woods to ensure good quality turf. Al Ruwaya Golf Course, first in the world to be designed by Tiger Woods Design, will be the only course in the Middle East to utilise this method of grassing on the entire golf course. During the process, grass from the nursery is cut in a roll and laid in one-metre wide strips on the shaped hole.

Tatweer has entered into several strategic agreements to ensure The Tiger Woods Dubai remains an elite destination. Lebanese designer Elie Saab has been contracted to craft the interiors of a boutique hotel, while three-star Michelin chef Guy Savoy has been signed up for a signature restaurant.
