Oglaend Industries yesterday said that it would soon come out with a low-weight fibreglass reinforced plastic cable tray system that can be used in the construction industry, especially new plants and structures.
David Dickie, Managing Director, Oglaend Industries, Middle East, yesterday told Emirates Business that the company had chosen to relocate its advanced composites operations from the UAE as a result of rising demand.
The company moved its advanced composite operation from Dubai to their new purpose-built facility in Malaysia. Products will however be shipped to Dubai, stocked and assembled here, and Dubai will continue to be the hub to Mena. "Initially the product was designed and developed in Dubai. We had a small production facility here. But it succeeded so quickly that it outgrew our expectations and we had to start a bigger facility in Malaysia," said Dickie.
The Middle East division of Oglaend Industries was established in 2006 in Dubai.
The company operates 6,000 square metres of warehouse with a full broad range of finished stock.
Lines include cable ladders, cable trays and multi-discipline support systems plus accessories, trefoil cleats and ETIN tubing clamps. It also specialises in the supply of fibreglass reinforced plastic (FRP) and stainless steel products from stock.
"Our primary industrial focus is on the offshore and onshore oil and gas sector, shipbuilding, infrastructure/tunnels as well as the water treatment industry," he said.
The Dubai office covers the entire Middle East.
"The Dubai company's growth during the last two years was exceptional. The revenues increased from zero to several millions. Compared to 2007, we experienced a growth of 110 per cent in 2008. However, this year, due to the crisis in the market we are expecting significant growth but perhaps a lower percentage year-on-year," said Dickie.
According to him, Oglaend System leads the market for multi-discipline support systems used in some of the world's most important industries. "Following the success of our product being serviced to the oil and gas industries, we are planning to introduce a similar product for the construction industry. We are planning to come up with cable ladders and multi-discipline support systems made of FRP. Its light weight will specially be of benefit for contractors, especially when working on tall towers," he added.
"Another advantage of the use of fibre glass reinforced plastic is that it is smoke and fire resistant and emits zero toxins," he added.
"Given the current economic situation, the industry will definitely be looking towards new technology that can perform better and save cost," said Dickie.
According to him the Malaysian facility will serve business all over the world. The company deals with marine, oil and gas, petrochemical, alternative energy, clean room and infrastructure industries, the company produces a range of flexible systems and various innovative support technologies that deliver added value through reduced installation time, maximised volume utilisation and weight reductions.
