UAE-based developer Sweet Homes has awarded Dh2.2 billion contract for the construction of its flagship project Ajman Uptown to its newly formed subsidiary Sweet Homes General Contracting (SHGC).
A ground-breaking ceremony to mark the start of work on the Dh3bn township scheme was attended by Sweet Homes Group CEO Fahad Sattar Dero and senior officials.
The event marked the launch of SHGC, which will be responsible for the construction of the project from its initial phases – excavation, shoring, soil improvement and foundation work – to the final construction stages. The division employs 300 engineers, project managers, site supervisors, quantity surveyors and workers.
"Our keenness to develop projects of remarkable concept, design and quality has motivated us to expand our operations," said Dero. "Through the launch of SHGC we have further strengthened our position as a credible solutions provider for the property industry,' he said.
"Through the collaboration of highly specialised divisions, the Ajman Uptown project will witness the highest level of industry expertise and will be built with optimised resources," Dero said.
Soil investigation and the early stages of excavation and construction of site offices have already been completed. And the project is scheduled for delivery 36 months after the completion of the initial groundwork. Eng Adnan Saffarini Office has been appointed as the primary consultant for the planning, design and supervision of the project. While, Sweet Homes is currently commissioning partners, suppliers and subcontractors.
Ajman Uptown will have 1,504 villas and townhouses, a hotel and hotel apartment building, a shopping mall, mini-mall, hospital, health club, two mosques, a school, landscaping and complete infrastructure spread over four million sq ft of land.
The development will be accessible from Emirates Road and is adjacent to Emirates City.
