A joint venture consisting of Agility Defense & Government Services (DGS), Ferguson-Williams, and Hammer has been awarded three separate contracts for the operation and maintenance of bulk fuel facilities by the Defense Energy Support Center (DESC), according to a statement by the centre.

The three contracts have a combined total estimated value of $7.67m (Dh28.14m) over a five-year period.

The joint venture, AFH Fuels Services, will operate, maintain, secure and provide safety and environmental protection for aviation and ground bulk fuel storage operations on US Air Force (USAF) installations at Ramstein Air Base, Germany; Lajes Field, Azores, Portugal; and Incirlik Air Base, Turkey.

Agility is the major shareholder of AFH, which was created specifically to bring best-in-class logistics and operations capabilities to the DESC.

"The combined AFH team has the capabilities and expertise to provide safe, accurate and highly-efficient bulk fuel services to these Air Force installations," said Dan Mongeon, President of Agility DGS-US. "Agility looks forward to this new opportunity to further support the Defense Logistics Agency and the DESC."

AFH will be responsible for operating USAF government-owned bulk fuel storage tanks and equipment associated with providing bulk fuel for flight line refuelling operations operated by USAF fuels personnel. Major duties include receiving, storing, and issuing bulk fuel products in support of Air Force refuelling operations. The performance period for the three contracts will commence July 1, 2008 and extend through July 1, 2013.

Ferguson-Williams, based in Huntsville, Alabama, has extensive government contracting experience providing support services including base operations, logistics, maintenance, and administrative services.

Hammer, Inc, based in Diamondhead, Mississippi, is a veteran-owned small business with specialised experience in petroleum operations and maintenance.
