Sewa applies safety system for power grid

The Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority is applying an integrated safety system for power generation, transfer and distribution.

Sewa Deputy Director General Ibrahim Rashid Al Deemas said the authority covers its facilities and stations with the latest warning and fire extinguishing systems.

He said Sewa has a workshop for the maintenance of those systems as well as machinery for re-filling fire extinguishers.

Al Deemas said transformers are supplied with systems that automatically shut off the transformers in case the temperature went up to a certain limit. Fuel reservoirs in all electricity generation stations are supplied with a system that releases foam that has less density than that of liquid fuel and which floats on the fuel surface and isolates it from the oxygen source.
