The masterplanning and landscape architecture consultancy Hyder Acla has been appointed masterplanner of the Dh1.8 billion Escape development.
Launched under the patronage of Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, the 200-acre equestrian-themed mixed-use community is seen as being a key part of Ajman’s ongoing drive to become a global destination.
Escape is aimed primarily at people who enjoy an active lifestyle. Along with upscale villas, houses, apartments and a world-class hotel, the development will feature several multi-purpose sports facilities and an indoor arena offering basketball, squash and volleyball courts, along with an outdoor tennis court and facilities for jogging, biking and horse riding.
“Ajman is known for its equestrian tradition, and Escape follows the emirate’s overall strategy of incorporating elements from the past into innovative developments,” said Mona Rizk, senior masterplanning and landscape architect for Hyder Acla.
“The development will also reflect Ajman’s goal of combining world-class architecture with environment-friendly measures. The result will be a community that will offer serenity and luxury in equal measures.”
Hyder Acla, a subsidiary of the award-winning advisory and design consultancy Hyder Consulting, was chosen to be masterplanner for the project because of its track record on projects that have successfully combined architectural and natural elements. Its projects include Dubai Festival City, Dubai Healthcare City Landscape Masterplan, Aoshanwan Seaside Garden Town in China and the greening masterplanning of the Hong Kong Island.
“Our aim is to combine the natural and the cultured, the traditional and the contemporary, in ways that enhance each other and their surroundings,” said Dastin Hillery, senior masterplanning and urban designer for Hyder Acla.
“The Escape masterplan will be driven by three main elements – the distinctive equestrian facilities, the wide variety of health and fitness facilities, and residential and leisure facilities.”
