GM to recall 1.3m cars in US, Canada, Mexico

General Motors says it is recalling 1.3 million compact cars in the US, Canada and Mexico to fix power steering motors that can fail.

The recall follows 1,100 complaints received by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The complaints included 14 crashes and one injury.

The recall affects Chevrolet Cobalts, Pontiac G5s, Pontiac Pursuits sold in Canada, and Pontiac G4s sold in Mexico.

General Motors said the vehicles are still safe to drive but it may be hard to steer them when traveling under 15mph.
