The pan-GCC pharmaceutical logistics company Pharma World Holdings (PWH) is holding talks with international manufacturers with a view to signing distribution deals.

Officials from the company promoted the region's pharmaceutical logistics sector at the recent Next Generations Pharmaceutical (NGP) Europe Summit in France.

"As the only dedicated pharmaceutical third-party logistics company in the Middle East, we attracted lots of interest," said Group Development Director Maher Kheder.

"We have entered into discussions with pharmaceutical companies, such as GSK, J&J, Bayer, BMS, Novartis and Merck, all of whom are looking to sustain and increase market share in the region.

"We are in serious discussions with US manufacturer Wyeth and Baxter. We look forward to offering a complete handling solution solely focused on specialised medicines requiring cold chain storage."

The summit brought together major players in the industry to discuss and resolve challenges faced by the industry.

PWH was formed early this year as a 50-50 joint venture between Ithmar Capital and Banaja International Group. It is building a customised warehouse at Jebel Ali Free Zone that will use the latest IT technology to accept orders of all sizes from manufacturers.

PWM processes and ships orders from its warehouse, invoices customers on behalf of manufacturers and advises suppliers when to provide replacement products, while giving customers the option of letting it issue orders on their behalf.
