India’s B&R looks to expand in Gulf

The head of a leading Indian engineering and construction company has visited the UAE to explore business opportunities in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and other parts of the Middle East.


Mukesh Jha, Managing Director of the Bridge and Roof Company (B&R), held talks in the capital with Indian ambassador Talmiz Ahmad.


“We are closely monitoring developments in the oil and gas sector, including power plants here.


“We are going to explore opportunities to contribute to the development process by undertaking projects and are utilising the services of the Technical Parts Company’s oil and gas division and C&J Engineering in Abu Dhabi as local service providers for the UAE,” said a B&R spokesman.


B&R provides concept-to-commissioning services including design, engineering, construction and project management in India and other countries.


It operates in a number of sectors including petrochemicals and chemicals, oil refining and terminals, power, steel, cement, rail and road bridges, highways, environmental and pollution control plus all types of piling and marine works. The company is accredited with an ISO-9001: 2000 certificate.


In addition it manufactures heavy and medium steel structures, bridge girders, freight containers, bunkhouses and other products at its workshops at Howrah in India.


B&R has over the years undertaken projects in Abu Dhabi, Syria, Kuwait and Bahrain as well as the Maldives, Nepal, Bhutan, Burma and Sri Lanka.
