Abu Dhabi yesterday launched its first stockbrokers' group to promote their business and upgrade performance within an ongoing drive to bring various professional sectors under one umbrella.
The group held its first working meeting at the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI) premises and elected Khalifa Butti bin Omair bin Yousuf as Chairman and Ziad Dabbas from the National Bank of Abu Dhabi as Deputy Chairman. Yousuf is the owner of the Brokerage House Securities. Mohammed Yassin, Shuaa Chief Executive, was nominated as the group's secretary, while other local brokers were named members of the committee, which will represent the group.
"This is the latest in a series of working groups launched by the ADCCI as part of its strategy to organise local economic sectors and strengthen its relationship with the private sector," said Mohammed Al Hamli, General Manager, who headed the meeting.
"The chamber is ready to extend full support to this important stockbrokerage sector given its vital role in developing local markets."
According to ADCCI, the new group comprises representatives from the nearly 100 authorised stockbrokerage firms in Abu Dhabi and its functions will cover improving their performance.
