Marriott targets 600,000 hotel rooms by 2009

Marriott will have about 600,000 rooms by the end of 2009 after it adds 115,000 more rooms to its hotels all over the world.

 


Samir Daqqaq, Vice-President of Marriott International Sales Office, said the market outside the United States will see the addition of new rooms. Speaking to Emirates Business, he said Marriott will add 5,570 rooms to its hotels in the Middle East and North Africa region.

 


He said about 2,654 rooms will be added in the UAE. Ras Al Khaimah Marriott will have 300 new rooms, Sharjah Marriott 248 rooms, Marriott Hotel Apartments in Sharjah 125 apartments, Marriott Hotel in Dubai Festival City 170 rooms, Courtyard by Marriott Dubai 125 rooms and Marriott Hotel Apartments in Dubai Lifestyle 46 apartments.

 

In addition, Renaissance Dubai in Dubai Motor City will have 356 new rooms, Courtyard Marriott in Dubai Motor City 250 rooms, JW Marriott Hotel in Abu Dhabi Motor City 481 rooms, Renaissance Dubai Marina 300 rooms and Dubai Health Care City Marriott 350 rooms.

The group will have 126 apartments after the construction of a hotel apartment project at the Health Care City.

 


Daqqaq said 850 rooms will be added in Saudi Arabia, while two hotels will be built in Jeddah and Riyadh.
