Muna Busamra was appointed as programme development manager by the Dubai Press Club (DPC) and she will be responsible for overseeing the development of content for all the DPC activities and programmes.

Muna will also supervise work on the content of the Arab Media Forum and the Arab Media Outlook, enhancing the quality of work on both these pioneering initiatives. She will also serve as Deputy Director for the Arab Journalism Award and will oversee the Award's processes throughout the year.

Maryam Bin Fahad, executive director, Dubai Press Club, said that due to Muna Busamra's journalistic experience and talent she is the most suitable person to lead the development of content for the Press Club.

"We are striving to strengthen the stature of the club as a pioneering media platform regionally as well as internationally. To that effect, we are upgrading our workforce by incorporating the best talents and capabilities," she added.

Muna Busamra said she considered it a challenging opportunity.

"Its media programmes are the mainstay of the Press Club. I look forward to contributing dynamically to the diverse programmes and activities of the Club and moving it into newer heights of success and excellence," she added.

Before joining Dubai Press Club, Muna Busamra worked as Principal Correspondent with Alittihad newspaper. She was responsible for local news at Alittihad throughout her long years there.

She is also the Secretary General of the UAE Journalists Union and the head of the Support Fund for the members of the Union.

Muna is a graduate from the College of Literature, UAE University with specialization in journalism.

She is a winner of the Oscar Excellence Award for local journalism from the Arab Youth Council in Cairo in 2007.

She has also won many other awards and accolades within and outside the country for her contributions to journalism in the UAE.
