The task of promoting Beijing Olympic Games has been aptly given to Dragon Mart, as one of the locations to mark the Olympic festivities in Dubai.

This was part of the efforts of Chinese diplomatic missions around the world to organise simultaneous activities before and during the Beijing Olympics to celebrate the Olympic spirit worldwide.

Additionally, a photo exhibition about the Beijing Olympics is being held at the Chinese Consulate in Dubai from July 17 till the end of the Games.

The celebrations are divided into three main parts – an opening ceremony with shows, parades, and a relay torch, which is an event exclusive for VIPs and invited guests. From July 18 to August 14, Dragon Mart is hosting an educational exhibition, open to the public, about the Olympic's long history.

Dragon Mart is decorated with symbols of the official Olympic logo and with the five characters of the Beijing Olympics to commemorate the Games.

Since the activities started, the Olympics-branded Dragon Mart has witnessed a six per cent increase in footfall which reflects the craze for Olympic attractions that are being held in the Mall, apart from the summer traffic increase.

Olympics sponsors have their share in the UAE as well as China, with their logos displayed on Olympics posters throughout the malls and on electronic signboards.

Dragon Mart is running a display of the history of the modern Olympic Games. The exhibition covers every game since 1896.

Dragon Mart visitors have the chance to participate in "mini-championships" of table tennis, judo and taekwondo. Interactive entertainment and exhibits will run for the duration of the Games with a number of prizes and medals to be won. Weekly sports demonstrations by skilled athletes and sports people are also some of the features.
