Boutros Boutros will take over as the new Divisional Senior Corporate Communication Manager of Emirates airline on March 31.

This was announced in an internal communiqué from the office of Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Emirates Group and President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority.

Boutros will be responsible for the entire corporate communication of the group including avionics – the airline's onboard entertainment division. He has been working with the group for more than 17 years and has been responsible for "media relations, public relations and sponsorships", said the outgoing Divisional Senior Vice-President for Corporate Communication Mike Simon. "He is a good choice for the job and I wish him the very best in his new responsibilities, which the airline is giving him. He has been a very important member of my team for more than 17 years, looking after various aspects of corporate communication," he said.

Simon intends to dedicate his retired life to his love for writing. "I have two more books in the pipeline with a new publisher and I will be travelling to Denmark to complete my research for my forthcoming books," he said.

Commenting on his life after March 31 when he leaves Emirates, Simon said: "We have a home in Dubai and one each in Cyprus and England. So we will be spending time chasing the sun and avoiding the winter."

In his new capacity as the head of corporate communication of the airline, Boutros begins his new responsibilities in times of global financial crisis. He will be responsible for expanding the Emirates platform fitting to the future plans of the airline.
