Strata Law to help ensure transparency

Dubai's Real Estate Regulatory Authority's (Rera) ruling that developers should not increase maintenance fees without permission has once again brought into focus the importance of the Strata Law.

Speaking exclusively to Emirates Business, top executives representing a cross-section of developers and agencies have debated the issue with most claiming a transparent relationship with clients on issues like maintenance fees was already in place.

Some developers said high inflation has forced them to pass on the costs to the customer, while others said the increase in maintenance costs, if any, had been minimal.

However, all agreed that the Strata Law would be key in ensuring transparency across the board in all issues, especially service charges.
