UAE-based real estate developer Fakhruddin Properties said work on its Dh800 million Lake Central project located in Business Bay is under way and piling phase has been completed.

Lake Central is a T-shaped 22-storey commercial tower and it is scheduled for completion by late 2009.

"Lake Central is a unique commercial tower adding to our signature projects, which have garnered much attention thanks to their unique architectural features, strategic locations, premium facilities and high investment returns," said Ali Asgar Fakhruddin, Director of Fakhruddin Properties.

"Central to our organisation's belief is that each project should reflect the company as a whole and it is with this mission statement that we endeavour to consistently deliver our best. With this work ethic as our primary mode of operation, we continue to strive and to move forward," he added.

The structure's T-shaped design not only capitalises on its location by giving more Creek views, but also enhances its functionality. Amenities include an exclusive Creek-facing swimming pool and hi-tech gym, Creek-facing cafes and restaurants, a business centre and a conference room.

Explaining the rationale behind Lake Central being a fully commercial tower, Fakhruddin, said: "There is a growing need for office space in Dubai, and already demand outstrips supply. Lake Central is being constructed to contribute to bridging this gap."

Market surveys have found Dubai is in need of between 30 to 40 million square feet of commercial spaces annually; and around six to seven million square feet of commercial spaces were created the last year.
