Bahrain Telecommunications Company (Batelco) said its first-quarter net profit slipped to 26.3 million Bahraini dinars ($69.8m), down four per cent from BHD27.4m in the same period in 2008.
Batelco's first-quarter gross revenues rose 7.2 per cent to BHD83.7m versus BHD78.1m in the corresponding period a year earlier, the telco said in an emailed statement.
Batelco's shares closed up 1.1 per cent to BHD0.536 on the Bahraini bourse yesterday before the results were announced.
