Britons are less likely to return goods they buy online compared to those bought on the high street, according to a survey released yesterday.

It also said UK consumers are the biggest online shoppers in Europe.

The survey found more than 60 per cent of shoppers are less likely to return their online purchases, although they have an extra right to a seven-day cooling-off period.

The survey, carried out by the UK Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, showed that more than 13 per cent of people admit to not being sure of their consumer rights if they shop online.

"We are now Europe's biggest online shoppers," said Consumer Minister Kevin Brennan.
