Global IT security major Trend Micro and IT services giant Wipro Technologies have joined hands to develop solutions to secure cloud-computing environments that face the challenge of keeping costs down without compromising security.

The two companies would offer next-generation virtualisation security solutions for dynamic datacentres, an official release yesterday said.

The partners would jointly build centres of excellence around the globe to address issues of protecting data in virtualised datacentres and cater to growing demand for server consolidation.

"By working closely with Trend Micro, we'll be better able to address the operational security requirements of our datacentre customers, and meet their business demands for efficiency and cost savings," the statement cited Prasenjit Saha, Vice-President and Global Head of Enterprise Security Solutions at Wipro.

"Most datacentres are employing virtualisation technology these days, but without a virtualisation security strategy, these dynamic datacentres are less secure than their physical counterparts," said Wael Mohamed, Senior Vice-President of Business Development, Trend Micro.

According to the statement, mutual customers will be able to fully leverage the benefits of Trend Micro Enterprise Security offerings through Wipro's accelerated and cost-effective approach for deployment.

With access to combined Wipro and Trend Micro expertise at these centres in countries including the US, UK, Australia and Japan, the statement said enterprises will be able to better focus on their core competencies, while letting industry leaders help them implement security solutions to reduce risks and costs.

The partnership will provide joint virtualised data centre security and datacentre consolidation solutions using next-generation products from Trend Micro and other mutual partners.
