City-D Development, known for its luxury projects in CIS countries, has launched a Dh2 billion scheme on Nakheel's The World project, to be modelled on the Malaysian resort of Pangkor Laut.

Pangkor Laut Luxury Resort, Residence and Spa Village, which will be managed by Malaysia's YTL Hotels & Properties, will be built on 1.6 million square foot of reclaimed land over five Central Asian islands grouped into one development.

"We will offer three types of accommodation on the development – resort, apartments and villas. Besides, we will offer spa, marina and leisure facilities," said Carl Kono, executive vice-president of YTL Hotels & Properties.

The resort will comprise 120 guest rooms, 20 beachfront villas, an aqua park and an underwater nightclub. The residential component will include 92 apartments, 20 beach villas with pools and 28 independent villas with marinas.
